Timothy Bright is a sonic sound explorer and music studio nerd.  He started on piano at 5, moved to trombone at age 9, switched to banjo at 13 and started guitar by 16.  His early influences were wide and varied from Black Sabbath to West African juju guitar players to early punk rock to the experimental guitar of Robert Fripp.  As an original member of Lisa Loeb and Nine Stories in the 1990’s, Tim received a Grammy Nomination and two double platinum records. He founded Samsara (WB) and teamed up with Chad Fischer to form Lazlo Bane (Almo/Interscope) co-writing the song “Superman” used as the theme song of hit comedy show “Scrubs” for 9 seasons.  He has toured extensively in the US and abroad appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman, Top of the Pops, Lilith Fair, WABC, WNBC, WCBS BBC, MTV, VH1, PBS playing everywhere from dive bars to festival stages.

Tim is continually active in the NYC music scene as a music producer and composer working for indie and major labels, independent artists, publishers, ad agencies and music houses. As the owner of Sixty Cycle Music studio, Tim brings an experimental and experienced ear to sessions, producing, engineering, playing and mixing projects. He has written songs and contributed to many films including Fahrenheit 911, Panic, Little Manhattan, and The Rocker.  In 2007, Tim scored all eight seasons of WABC’s hit show “Private Practice” and provided the theme song to match.  He has composed music for many commercial campaigns such as Ikea, Target, Heineken, Aeropostale and GM. He has scored a wide variety of films from documentaries to big box office releases. In 2009 Tim began working with world renowned artist Matthew Day Jackson on musical score and sound design for installations, videos and film.  These collaborations have been exhibited at galleries and museums world wide.

Some notable recent projects include writing music for the documentary “One with the Whale” (2023) highlighting the indigenous whaling community of the Yupik Sivuqag in Alaska. Scoring Phoebe Robinson’s comedy “Everything’s Trash” (2022) for Peacock/ABC. Collaborating with Daniel Johnston’s “Hi, How Are You?” Foundation in producing/mixing “Strange Boy” a reinterpretation of his seminal cassette only release “Retired Boxer” with artist Kate Davis performing at Austin City Limits (2022).
